I’ve been working on this painting for the last few weeks, off and on. At some point my painting style has changed from fast and furious, with conception to completion happening within a few days, to this slower, considered, contemplative process. Patience is a long passion…

Can you see the garden emerging?

I am using lots of liquid frisket to mask out the flowers in the foreground while I work on the background, and lots of rock salt to create a dreamy, ethereal ambiance. It’s fun to use tricks, but it does require a lot of waiting for things to dry…
